MUSEUM WEEK EVENTS

The Bix Museum will be offering a docent on Thursday June 13th from 11 am to 1 pm.  Guests may take advantage of guidance as well as Q&A from Gerri Bowers, author of Bix: The Davenport Album.

The River Music Experience will be offering a free River Currents Tour: Exploring American Roots Music on Thursday June 13th at 2 PM in the RME performance hall.

ABOUT THE MUSEUM

After nearly a century, the music of legendary cornetist, pianist and composer Bix Beiderbecke still draws awestruck admiration from fans around the world. Treasured recordings keep alive his unique tone, melodic style, lyrical phrasing and heart-stopping improvisations.

This new museum in Bix's hometown of Davenport, Iowa, is a must stop for jazz and history lovers. Visitors will learn of his brief but eventful life at the dawn of the 20th century, view rare films and listen to his incomparable music.

The museum graces the lower level of the River Music Experience building, 2nd and Main Streets, in downtown Davenport.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Admission is free but donations are gratefully accepted.
